The origin of the company RDM (name of the founder René de Malzine) started at the beginning of the last
century when the company was based on the Belgian territory.
During the First World War, the factory was transferred in the area of Paris (COLOMBES) for security reasons, and
then moved to VERDUN ( Meuse) at the beginning of the sixties in order to be closer to its main customers : Iron
and Coal mining industries.
The company CORDM was created in October 1982 by the business recovery of the ex-company RDM and
realised by some people who had a strong experience in gears manufacturing.
After 4 decades of constant policy of investments, the factory has been completely renewed with more than 50 of the latest generation machines covering over
7000m².

Thanks to the quality of its products, CORDM is supplying gears to the biggest world customers.

Gearacy is a computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) software dedicated to gears.

GEARACY, formerly called Filengrène, is a software developed by André MEYER from the INSA (engineering school in Normandie) of Rouen which allowed CORDM to start cutting on multi-axis universal machines with standard milling tools and whose trajectory is derived from a numerical modelling of the gearing.

In May 2022, CORDM integrated Filengrène by becoming the owner of the source codes and the software was renamed “GEARACY”.

We first scan the part to model a gear as a point cloud. Using Gearacy, this point cloud is then processed and digitized into a 3D model. In this way, we can determine the gearing. Regardless of the size of the gear, its module or the type of gearing (spur, helical, herringbone, straight bevel, helical and spiral, splines, wheels and worms)

Gearacy will also allow us to machine gears on different types of machines such as our HELLER machining centres – turning-milling centres for the production of herringbone gears without grooves for example)

With Gearacy, we will be able to program deburring operations for robots very easily and quickly, whether for internal or external gearing.

We can also carry out three-dimensional checks (topography or gearing diagrams)

Gearacy will also allow us to carry out macro-geometric gearing corrections (coniflex)

As you can see, GEARACY is the reference in terms of computer-aided design software for gears. In addition to all its features, we offer you a personalized assistance for the installation and the handling of the GEARACY software thanks to our technical support but also thanks to a complete training program in order to help you to take the best advantage of the use of Gearacy.

CORDM continues to invest with the arrival this month of a new Mazak Integrex i-500Sturning machine ( twin turning spindles)  equipped with a robotized cell.

The INTEGREX i-500S is the largest member of the “INTEGREX i” series with the maximum machining capacity of φ 700mm.  It is equipped with a high output, high torque main spindle and the newly developed compact milling spindle head which is smaller than comparable machines to provide a larger machining area.

The robotized cell will arrive by May.

The INTEGREX i-500S will be operational in June. In the meantime, the installation, programming and testing phase is underway.

CORDM participated in March 2022 in a CSR assessment by an independent assessment service.

The objective of the EcoVadis CSR assessment methodology is to determine the quality of a company’s CSR management system through its policies, actions and results. The evaluation covers 21 points grouped into 4 themes: Environment, Social & Human Rights, Ethics and Responsible Purchasing.

CORDM has been evaluated on key issues according to its size, location and sector of activity.

Assessments based on documented evidence are refined in scorecards, with scores between zero and one hundred (0 and 100), and medals (bronze, silver, gold) where appropriate. (A score below 40/100 automatically disqualifies the candidate)

In addition, the evaluation sheets contain advice on strengths and areas of improvement that CORDM can follow to focus its sustainability efforts and develop corrective action plans to improve its CSR performance.

CORDM obtained a score of 58/100 with a silver medal!

CORDM will participate for the very first time in the GLOBAL INDUSTRIE exhibition (formerly MIDEST) from May 17th to 20th 2022 in Paris Nord Villepinte.

This is a good opportunity for CORDM to promote its know-how in the manufacture of high precision gears/repair of industrial gearboxes and to better understand the market to meet the expectations of its customers.

Our machinery will be expanded soon with the arrival of:

One cylindrical grinding machine (internal, external and polygonal)

CORDM continues to invest with the arrival in November of a new TACCHELLA PROFLEX C3 2100 grinding machine for precision grinding.

The Tacchella Proflex C3 2100  can grind cylindrical and polygonal parts up to Ø650×2100 mm with a maximum weight between centres of 1500 kg.

Proflex is a new range of external and internal CNC grinding machines that encloses the whole concept of flexible production. The flexibility of PROFLEX lies in its range of wheel heads configurations which allows the use of several tools in different combinations. Up to four conventional or high-speed CBN wheels can be mounted simultaneously.

CORDM has also planned to invest in a HENNINGER centre grinding machine:

Ø650 x 2000 (steady rest max Ø 450) and max weight 2 000 Kgs – max centre Ø 100 mm.

Commissioning is planned for March 2022.

As a supplier of gears for 40 years to the largest gearbox manufacturers, CORDM can now expertise, repair and improve your equipment. We also propose the design, the manufacturing and assembly of new gearboxes for non-standard applications.

Since January 2019, significant investments in equipment (washing machine, shot blasting, painting cabin, roller heating, hydraulic presses up to 250T, vacuum test bench, overhead cranes up to 20T…) have been made. Thanks to an extension of 1000m² dedicated exclusively to maintenance, we can now take your gearboxes in charge in our facilities.

Upon receipt of your equipment, an expertise will systematically be carried out. A complete report will be made followed by a detailed price quotation including:

• cleaning, opening the gear unit, analysing possible failures,
• detailed examination of all parts,
• non-destructive testing of teeth (magnetic particle inspection)
• three-dimensional control of your housings and mobiles
• the replacement of defective mobiles or parts
• the systematic replacement of bearings and sealing rings,
• the reassembly and adjustment of the clearances
• the tests of the gearboxes on a test bench without load.
