Gears cutting

Gear cutting is our core business!

Since reopening in 1982, CORDM has constantly reinvested in state-of-the-art gear hobbing equipment.

Our hobbing equipment can produce any type of gears, from module of 0.5 to module of over 100.
We can produce spur / helical / internal / bevel / helical bevel / spiral bevel / Zerol / Hirth / herringbone gears, etc.

Cutting spur or helical gears is a machining process using a rotary cutter called a hob, which rotates synchronously with the workpiece. Using this process, we can produce parts up to 3.5 tonnes, with a diameter of 1600mm and a length of 750mm.

We use shaper cutters for the cutting of internal gears or external gears. The cutting process is carried out by meshing the shaper cutter with the wheel to be cut. The wheel is mounted on an axle and rotates at a speed that depends on the number of teeth to be cut.
Using this process, we can cut parts up to 1 tonne – Ø2000mm x 700mm (max. bore 1000mm and max. module 14).

Finally, with our 5-axis cutting machines and the development of our software (see Gearacy), we can also cut a variety of teeth such as herrinbone / straight and spiral gaers / large module 100 and more… (Parts up to Ø1700mm).

Whether using a hob/ shaper cutter or 5-axis cutting, our teams have the expertise to produce high-precision gears to ISO / DIN or AGMA standards.

Gear cutting: precision driving your performance

At CORDM, gear cutting is far more than a manufacturing step – it is a core expertise we refine every day to guarantee the reliability and performance of your mechanical systems. Behind every custom gear and every custom pinion, there is advanced know-how, strict quality control and a true commitment to high-precision machining.

As a gear cutting company, our mission is to transform a concept or technical drawing into a fully functional component, perfectly aligned with its application. Each gear tooth profile is carefully engineered to ensure smooth, efficient and durable power transmission. Thanks to our modern gear cutting machines and the expertise of our technicians, we deliver outstanding quality across all gear types – spur gears, helical gears, bevel gears, and other special gears.

Successful custom gear manufacturing starts with a deep understanding of your operational requirements. At CORDM, we support our clients from the earliest design stages to define the right technical parameters for their application: module, tolerances, helix angle, and surface finish. This upstream engineering approach allows us to produce precision gears that withstand real mechanical constraints and integrate seamlessly into your assemblies without the need for rework.

Each custom pinion we manufacture is the result of rigorous quality control, constant attention to detail, and a shared commitment to excellence across our entire team. Our gear cutting processes ensure exceptional precision and perfect consistency from one part to another, whether for prototypes, small batches, or recurring production runs. We operate in compliance with ISO, DIN, and AGMA standards to guarantee the conformity and reliability of every delivered component.

At CORDM, we believe that mechanical performance begins with precision at every stage. That is why we continuously invest in advanced equipment, engineering software, and the development of our human expertise. Gear cutting is our core business, but it is also our commitment that every gear manufactured in our workshops contributes to the long-term performance and durability of your mechanical transmission systems.
